6 killed, 21 injured after two buses collide in Maharashtra’s Buldhana – Bharat18

Bus

A tragic incident has been reported from Maharashtra’s Buldhana, a major road accident occurred last late night in which six dead and 21 were injured. The police said that two buses collided head-on at the Nandur Naka flyover in the Malkapur area on NH 53 around 2:30 am.

According to the report, one of the buses was owned by Balaji Travels and was returning from the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage to Hingoli district. The other bus, owned by Royal Travels company, was on its way to Nashik.

Two buses collided at Nandur Naka, resulting in six-passenger fatalities, according to officials. Around 20 injured people were taken to a hospital in Buldhana, while 32 passengers with minor injuries were given first-aid at a nearby Gurudwara.

One of the deceased individuals was the driver of the bus that was returning from Amarnath.

The Highway Police have said that the bus has been removed from the road and traffic has now resumed.

The reports suggest that over 115 individuals have tragically lost their lives in road accidents on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra over the past seven months. Road hypnosis is being identified as one of the factors causing these accidents on the six-lane access-controlled expressway.

Highway hypnosis, also known as driving hypnosis, is a condition where a driver becomes unaware and zoned out while driving a vehicle and does not recall what happened during that specific period.

According to the report, over 1000 accidents occurred on the Nagpur-Mumbai expressway since it was partially opened last year.

It’s worth noting that this expressway has experienced a total of 616 minor and major accidents, resulting in 656 people sustaining both serious and minor injuries. The majority of these accidents took place due to drivers exceeding the speed limit, falling asleep while driving, and tire blowouts.

According to an official, the officials are working to address the problem of road hypnosis. In 2022, there were 15,224 deaths in road accidents throughout Maharashtra.
