The International Yoga Day celebrations on Wednesday saw events across the capital that witnessed the participation of political leaders and officials.
Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs & for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri took part in yoga day events in the city. Union Minister Puri tweeted yoga is for the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. He said he was excited to participate in the Yoga Day celebration. He joined exponents and practitioners of yoga in a global celebration of the ancient practice of fitness at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. He also shared a clip of him performing various asanas.
He also shared a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recorded message being screened during the event. The New Delhi Municipal Council installed LED screens at eight locations where events to celebrate the day were shown.
Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur on Wednesday performed Yoga in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
He tweeted yoga scientifically keeps humans healthy, young, and active. It is not just an activity. He further added, to maintain physical and mental health, one has to adopt yoga practice. Yoga is the door to healing and unites people. He hailed PM Modi for his contribution to connecting the entire world through yoga.
Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development and Minority Affairs Smriti Irani on Wednesday performed Yoga at an indoor stadium in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida to mark the 9th International Yoga Day. Earlier in the day, many BJP leaders, including Bharatiya Janata Party President JP Nadda took part in the Yoga Day celebration at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurugram.
This year’s International Day of Yoga, observed on June 21, 2023, carries the theme “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.” This theme encapsulates India’s collective desire for “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” It highlights the interrelation of humanity and the need for unity and harmony in our global community.
The primary objective of International Yoga Day is to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga for physical and mental health. Yoga, with its ancient roots in India, has gained immense popularity worldwide because of its transformative effects on overall well-being.
In pandemic days, yoga has shown remarkable results in reducing anxiety and depression symptoms. It helps with emotional management and makes the mood in a good position. It connects the mind with the body.
