Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born on July 23, 1856 in Ratnagiri of present day Maharashtra, earlier known as Bombay Presidency under British rule. Fondly called as ‘Lokmanya’ meaning accepted as people’s leader, Bal Gangadhar Tilak had a massive following during the freedom movement and the British called him as ‘the father of the Indian unrest’. In addition, he is also recognised as the ‘Father of Swarajya’ as he was one of the first independence leaders to espouse ‘Swaraj’ and incorporate it into the independence struggle.

The Arctic Home in the Vedas: Tilak wrote this book in 1898 and published it in March 1903, according to reports. The book is based on the origin of Aryans and the theory of their living at the North Pole during the pre-glacial period.
