A toll plaza employee died after being beaten up by bouncers in Bihar’s Bhojpur district, affirmed an official on Monday. The bouncers reportedly thrashed the toll plaza employee on suspicion of stealing money.Â
The police official informed that they have learnt about the death of a toll plaza employee, named Balwant Singh, a 35-year-old man. He died in his native of Mankapur village in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. He was employed at the Kulharia toll plaza.Â
A station house officer of Koilwar police station said that a video went viral on social media where some bouncers were seen thrashing the employee after accusing him of stealing money from the toll kiosk. The officer added that after the physical assault, Balwant Singh returned to Gonda where he died.Â
He further asserted that an FIR has been lodged in Gonda and the post-mortem was also conducted there. He claimed that they are waiting for the post-mortem report and FIR, adding that once they get it, they will analyze the actual cause of his death. He ascertained that if the post-mortem report and the FIR puts fingers towards the alleged bouncers, then action will be taken against them.Â
The victim, Balwant Singh was accused of stealing money from the toll kiosk on Saturday. According to the reports, the accused bouncers beat him and threw him on a railway track near the Kulharia railway station.Â
The Kulharia toll plaza is situated on the Koilwar-Buxar four lane road. The tolling operation in the Kulhari toll plaza commenced this year. As far as records are concerned this is the first incident of violence on this toll booth. Koilwar is an area between Arrah and Patna district.
According to the police, primary reports suggest that the guard was accused of stealing money by other workers of the toll plaza and that is when the bouncers thrashed him and beat him. Police ascertained that the investigation is underway and that the statement of the relatives of the deceased as well as other evidence is being considered to proceed further in the investigation. Â
