Two armed men looted the Verka Milk booth in Amritsar on Wednesday. The milk booth is situated hardly 100 metres away from AAP MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh’s residence. The incident raised questions about safety and security in the region. Opposition leaders also slammed the APP led government in the state regarding the incident.
The robbery incident took place on Wednesday morning when a man fell victim to the robbers. The two masked men entered the premises at gunpoint and reportedly looted cash of Rs 8000 drawn from the sale of the milk. The man who was working at a milk booth can be seen visibly scared in the video. Traumatized by the incident, the man handed the robbers some expensive ornaments that he was wearing.
The viral video shows the sacred man taking off his earring and giving it to the robbers. According to media reports, the earring was made of gold. He was also wearing a silver bracelet which he gave to them.
Arvind Khanna, vice president of Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab tweeted about the incident. He stated that what else would reflect the Jungle Raj in Punjab than the fact that robbers, gangsters and mafia have no fear while carrying out criminal activities in the state. He further urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to sort out these issues.
According to reports, the Civil Lines Police in Amritsar have initiated an investigation in the aforesaid matter. As per preliminary investigation, the police revealed that the two men came to the spot with a two-wheeler which is being traced to identify and nab the culprits. Reports claimed that repeated threats were made to shoot the seller in the leg.
As far as reports are concerned, incidents of looting and shooting are increasing in the state. In Amritsar, this is the second incident of robbery being carried out. Recently, a robbery incident took place near Mehta Chowk which was carried out by three masked men.
