In an awful incident caught on camera, a group of unknown assailants stopped a moving car and looted the passengers in it at gunpoint. According to reports, the incident took place on Saturday in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan tunnel. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced on the internet and has now gone viral. The Delhi police have confirmed the CCTV visual.
Speaking to the media, the Delhi police asserted that a delivery agent and his associate were robbed at gunpoint of Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 lakh cash by a group of unknown assailants inside the Pragati Maidan Tunnel on June 24. The police added that they have lodged a case in this matter and are also trying to apprehend the criminals.
In the viral CCTV footage shared on Twitter, four men could be seen stopping a cab inside the Pragati Maidan tunnel. Two men among them got down from their bikes and charged towards the car. As the video proceeds further, it can be seen that one assailant threatens the occupants at gunpoint while the other one snatches a bag from the passenger seated on the back seat. Later, the assailants fled away from the scene.
Reacting to the video, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slammed Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena and demanded his resignation. He added that the LG should make way for someone who can provide safety and security to the people of Delhi. He continued that if the Central government is unable to make Delhi safe, then they should hand it over to the Delhi government. He acclaimed that he will show how to make a city safe for its citizens.
As per media reports, a delivery agent and his associates were the ones who were robbed by a group of unknown assailants as seen in the video. They were looted of Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 lakh cash at the gunpoint. The police officials narrated that the complainants were on their way towards Gurgaon in a cab to deliver a bag full of cash when they were robbed.
The complainant is identified as Patel Sajan Kumar. He works as a delivery agent with a firm in Chandni Chowk. During the time of the incident, he was accompanied by his friend Jigar Patel. Both of them were taking the bag to Gurgaon. Speaking to The Indian Express, Pranav Tayal, DCP (New Delhi) asserted that they gave a written complaint at Tilak Marg police station stating that they hired a cab from Lal Qila and were on their way to Gurgaon.
According to reports, a case was registered in the matter and raids are being conducted to nab the accused men. Police are also reportedly interrogating the complainants, their employers and other staffers to find out if it was an inside job.
