Delhi: 18-year-old man electrocuted in basement of LNJP hospital


In an unfortunate incident, an 18-year-old man was electrocuted to death at the basement of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. According to reports, the basement of the LNJP hospital was flooded with water and live wires were exposed to it. This phenomenon led to an electric current presence in the water. 

The 18-year-old man was working as a laborer in the hospital premises. He was involved in the construction of the building. Reports claim that police reached the spot and took a note of the incident. Furthermore, a Forensic Science Laboratory team also rushed to the spot to carry out investigation into the matter. The deceased has been identified as Sujeet Kumar. He was a resident of Samastipur in Bihar. 

Speaking about the incident, the police  asserted that the victim was working in a basement when he got electrocuted. He added that the victim was then taken to the emergency room with the help of another worker working at the site. In addition, the official further affirmed that the crime scene was being inspected by the Forensic Science Laboratory and the Crime team.

This incident takes place a week after a woman was electrocuted to death at New Delhi Railway station premises on June 25. The incident occurred at a waterlogged spot near the station premises where live wires were placed due to an ongoing work by the electricity department. The body of the woman was sent to Lady Hardinge Hospital for postmortem. The victim’s family blamed the electricity department for their negligence which resulted in the tragedy.

In another incident, a man was electrocuted to death in Delhi. The victim, Suhail, was visiting his relative in the national capital. The incident took place on 27 June at 5 am. The victim was walking through a street exposed with live wires and flooded by rain water. As far as reports are concerned, during this monsoon, the national capital is witnessing a increasing number of death by electrocution.
