The Congress have been up against the BJP ever since the news of the involvement of BJP CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Ram Madhav with the Kuki militants in Manipur came in the media.
Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala questioned whether the BJP took the help of the same Kuki militants during the the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and asked whether the Prime Minister and the Home Minister are aware of help from the Kuki Militants?
He asked in case being aware of the situation why did they allow such a thing to happen and in case of being unware, he enquired why the government is ignoring the issue. He further questioned whether it was not a matter of National Security of the country. In addition, he also asked whether the electoral politics of the region compelled the government to take such a decision.
He demanded the BJP government to take strict action against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Ram Madhav at the earliest. He also enquired whether a case will be registered against them by the NIA ? Furthermore, he also urged the BJP CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to resign from his post as the Chief Minister of Assam immediately.
The proof behind the allegations was the report which is being circulated in the media. The report stated that in 2017 a Kuki militant outfit helped the BJP candidates to win the assembly elections and it was carried out as per agreement with Himanta Biswa Sarma and Ram Madhav.
Reports claim that the Kuki militant organisation even helped the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. In a letter, the UKLF leader alleged that he had a very important role in the formation of BJP government in the state. He claimed that the support of the UKLF helped the BJP to secure 80-90% of votes in the area which resulted in a BJP victory in the state.
Meanwhile, SS Haokip the leader of the UKLF says that he is wrongly implicated in the arms purchase case and is not guilty of the crime he has been convicted for.
