The fresh violence has been reported at the general area of Kangvai-Awang Lekhai in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on the night of July 7 Friday.  Â
According to the reports, around 150-200 people gathered near the Kangla Fort on Friday night and set on fire two vehicles. The mob also tried to snatch weapons from the police and were putting pressure on them to fire at the crowd. Â Â
Following the situation, the Additional Border Security Forces were inducted to bring the situation under control as columns of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles moved to the general area of Songdo.
Meanwhile, another mob of 100-200 people gathered with the motive to disturb the situation on the same night. The crowd was dispersed by the security forces, including Rapid Action Force, on the Friday night.
The police had to resort to firing to disperse the mob and bring the situation under control, although no casualties were reported in the incident.
One security personnel of Manipur police is reportedly injured during the retaliatory firing incident, the report said.
According to the reports, an exchange of fire was witnessed in the Laikot area of Yaingangpokpi in the Imphal East district at night. The situation has been closely monitored by the authority. The report said 4 people, including a Manipur police commando and youngsters, were killed in the ethnic clashes between the community on the nights of Thursday and Friday.
The violence in Manipur still continues since May when more than 120 people have lost their lives and over 3000 injured to date. The two different communities, Meitei and Kuki, have been fighting against each other. The Tribal community (Kuki) has been against the Meitei community’s demand for Schedule Tribe status.
A large number of central security forces have been deployed apart from the state police to bring the situation under control in the state. Â Â
