After the institute got numerous complaints from applicants, the CBI filed an FIR. Officials said a search operation was underway and more accused may be seized. Several complaints to the Institute from the candidates made the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) lodge an FIR. Officials also informed about an underway search operation and said that more accused may be detained.
Navneet, the accused, who is identified as the mastermind of the case, was arrested from Delhi. He reportedly used remote access software through monitors to facilitate cheating in the exam. He will be produced before the court concerned on Friday.
Earlier, four persons, including a candidate of the same exam, Paramveer, and 3 others Manjeet Kumar, Monu Malik, and Anil Kumar were arrested by the CBI. The agency arrested them on June 16 and they were sent to judicial custody by the court concerned after they were made to go through police custody. On the basis of a complaint from AIIMS, New Delhi, a case was filed on June 9 against a private individual and others.
Earlier, a Mohali-based Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, where the test was held and a woman, named Ritu was also booked by the CBI, in connection with the leak of the NORCET-4 (Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test) examination paper.
AIIMS conducted the nursing officer recruitment exam at over 300 centres all over India on June 3. There were vacancies of 3,055 nursing officers at the institute and some other government hospitals.
The CBI spokesperson revealed that the computer monitor that was assigned to the candidate on the day of the exam was replaced by a doctored monitor resulting in providing remote access to the accused.
