A case of robbery was reported in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior where two sisters who had recently married to cousins allegedly ran away with gold and Rs. 1.5 lakh cash from the in-laws’ house. The incident left the family in shock.
The victim Bharat Gupta, a resident of Darpan Colony, filed a police complaint in the Thatipur police station area. In his complaint, Bharat Gupta said he and his cousin Rohit Gupta had married Sanjana and Anjali, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur.
They got engaged to the duo sisters on June 9 and after the engagement, the couple got married on June 11. Bharat said his aunt’s son Bunty Gupta, his friend Jeetu and Lalu had played matchmakers and arranged this marriage for him and Rohan Gupta.
However, just 5 days after the marriage, things took a turn when Bharat left for work at the High Court on Thursday, both Sanjana and Anjali escaped allegedly with gold and cash from the house. He further added that his mother and elder sister were at home at the time of the incident.
After a while, Bharat received a call from his mother, informing him about the incident. He then immediately tried to contact his wife but her phone first went unanswered and then switched off. Following this, Bharat approached the police and filed a complaint against the two sisters.
As per the report, Bharat said he only possesses the Aadhaar card of the accused sisters, which indicates their address in Paras Khand, Bargadwa Harenya Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh.
Many such incidents have been reported in recent times in which the bride looted the groom’s family and ran away. Earlier, there was a similar case reported in Jharkhand where a woman managed to dupe two men by marrying them and siphoning off huge amounts of cash from the families. However, she was caught in her third attempt when the groom’s mother discovered photographs of her with the former husband.
