The Odisha police on Monday arrested a man for killing his wife and setting her body ablaze.
The prime accused has been identified as Debaraj Sahu of Khaprakhol in Odisha’s Bolangir district and his wife, the victim has been identified as Chulabati from a nearby village.
On June 16, Sahu and Chulabati had an argument over some family matter, the matter escalated in such a manner that Sahu started thrashing Chulabati brutally until her death.
After Sahu was assured about his wife dead, he along with the help of two of his relatives Tikelal and Gunanidhi stuffed stuffed her body into a sack and took it a forest just to later set the body on fire pouring patrol with an intent to destroy the evidence.
Tikelal, Sahu’s elder brother and Gunanidhi, his uncle were also arrested by the police.
Both Sahu and Chulabati were married for six years.
The matter came into limelight when the victim’s father enquired Sahu about her daughter, he was not able to provide an answer, to which the deceased father’s approached the Khaprakhol police station and registered a missing complaint.
The police carried out an investigation, during which it found out the murder to have taken place and later arrested the three accused.
In India, several cases are reported, where husband kill the wife and later set them ablaze or set wife on fire.
In Noida recently, a man had set her wife on fire after she objected to his drinking habit.
