Peak Bengaluru! Internet stunned as landlord invests $10,000 in tenant’s start-up

Peak Bengaluru! Internet stunned as landlord invests $10,000 in tenant’s start-up

Pawan Gupta, an IT professional, raised $10,000 from his landlord for his start-up, Betterhalf. Gupta posted the news on Twitter, which soon went viral. He also shared that he was amazed by the entrepreneurial spirit everyone had in Bengaluru.

Diverse comments started coming on Twitter immediately. One user commented that it surprised him that he had got funding in dollars. Another user said that this was great news. Another user said this was really cool. Another person congratulated Pawan for his achievement.

With new start-ups emerging by the day, the competition in Bengaluru is getting tougher day by day. Hence, survival in India’s Silicon Valley is becoming difficult every day. Consecutive job layoffs are posing a challenge for IT professionals as the IT market weathers the global economic turndown. Hence, landlords are cautious about taking new tenants. Landlords are asking their tenants about their IIT and IIM Degrees. This is because of the pre-conceived notion that IT professionals from premier institutes have better job stability.

Some landlords even have gone to the extent of asking their tenants about their LinkedIn profiles and board marks. But Pawan Gupta’s Twitter post provides a ray of hope in the dark clouds.

Pawan’s landlord texted on WhatsApp that he was investing in him. He also gave his best wishes to make his start-up successful and take it to new heights.

Another similar positive event happened in Bengaluru when a man named Goutham was hunting for a house and shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat with a house owner who asked him for his LinkedIn profile and a small write-up about himself. This post became viral online. Goutham shared his experience on Twitter.

Bengaluru, the technopolis, is a thing by itself politically. Despite a large part of the state of Karnataka supporting the Congress, Bengaluru voted in 16 BJP MLAs of the 28 constituencies in the region.
