The price of petrol and diesel has dropped by 35 paise and 32 paise respectively in Noida. The new price of petrol in Noida is Rs 96.65 a litre, while diesel goes down to Rs 89.82 per litre.
As per the government oil companies, petrol has become costlier by 10 paise in Lucknow and is being sold at Rs 96.57 per litre. The price of diesel has also gone up by 10 paise to Rs 89.76 per liter in Lucknow.
The petrol price has increased by 35 paise to Rs 107.59 per liter in Patna, the capital of Bihar and diesel has also become costlier by 32 paise to Rs 94.36 a litre here.
Meanwhile, the price of petrol and diesel remained constant on Tuesday across major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai. The government oil agency has been announcing the price of petrol and diesel everyday, whether new or constant at 6 am on the day. However, the prices vary from state to state due to value-added tax (VAT), freight charges, local taxes, etc.
At present, the price of petrol in Delhi is constant and is being sold at Rs 96.72 per litre while diesel is being sold at Rs 89.62 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is being sold at Rs 106.31 and diesel at Rs 94.27 per litre. While petrol in Kolkata is Rs 106.03 and diesel is Rs 92.76 per litre. Whereas in Chennai, petrol is being sold at Rs 102.63 and diesel at Rs 94.24 per litre.
In India, oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum determine petrol and diesel prices. This has been done on a daily basis, and rates are determined in accordance with the price of crude oil in the international market.
The rates for each day, whether new or unchanged, are announced at 6 am everyday.
