Union Home Minister Amit Shah while speaking at the Lok Sabha on Monday said he is ready for a discussion on the ongoing Manipur crisis and requested the Opposition to let the discussion take place.
Shah said it is important that the truth of this sensitive matter comes out before the country.
Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till tomorrow amid sloganeering by the Opposition MPs.
The Opposition parties ever since the commencement of the monsoon session of the Parliament on July 20 have been demanding a detailed discussion on the strife torn hill state.
The session began amid a viral video of a spine chilling incident from Manipur showcasing two women paraded naked by a mob.
The video of the henious crime raised questions on the Central and state government’s adminstration by various stakeholder across the country. It was enough to ignite the spark among the Opposition parties to take on the government over the Manipur situation.
After the video created a ruckus across the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday had broken his silence making his first ever remarks on Manipur violence, nearly 80 days after clashes were erupted and remains continued.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are facing repeated adjournments as the Opposition MPs continue their protests inside the House demanding a discussion and a statement by PM Modi on the matter.
Earlier today, Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh was suspended from the reaminder of the monsson session of the Parliament by Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar for repeated violatiuon of the Chair’s directives.
Singh after the House proceedings resumed at 12 noon came near the Chairman’s podium and protested over the Manipur clashes.
