Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav’s 50th birthday celebrations take place with a tomato cake

The Central Teachers’ Eligibility Test (CTET) aspirants on Saturday staged a protest against the state government in Patna. Following the sensitivity of the situation, the Bihar police lathi-charged the CTET aspirants to maintain law & order in the state. A case has been also registered against the protesting aspirants.

According to DSP Kotwali, Law and Order, Nurul Haque said the protestors have taken their demonstration to the road in Patna which caused damage to property, stopped school students, and disrupted vehicular movement on the roads. The police officer further stated that strict action will be taken against the protestors for their actions. The police dispersed them from the protesting place applying lathi-charge.

The Bihar government made an announcement on Tuesday, stating that eligible candidates from all states will now be able to apply for teaching jobs in Bihar’s government school. The decision sparked anguish among the CTET aspirants in Bihar since this decision marked a reversal of the previous rule that restricted applicants from other states and allowed only Bihar domicile to apply for teaching positions in the state’s government-run schools. Now, the new policy will allow candidates from any state to apply for teaching jobs in Bihar’s government schools.

On May 2, the Bihar cabinet approved a proposal to recruit 1.78 lakh teachers for primary, middle, and upper classes in government schools. The proposal specified the recruitment and requirement of 85,477 primary teachers, 1,745 middle-class teachers, and 90,804 upper classes teachers.

The Bihar Public Service Commission has been questioned in the past for the recruitment process. There have been several cases reported of corruption and paper leaks before the exam. Many aspirants have claimed that the process of selecting candidates under the BPSC has been hectic. The aspirants expected the recruitment process to be completed by the end of this year.
