A 27-year-old wanted criminal, who is identified as Muhammad Gufran was shot dead today in an early morning encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district.
A special task force team was executing a raid in the Kaushambi district this morning at around 5:00, according to the UP Police. The police responded after Gufran challenged them and started firing, and as a result of the resulting cross-firing, Gufran was shot and injured. After being taken to a hospital for treatment, Gufran passed away from the injuries he sustained.
He was found with an Apache bike, a 32-bore pistol, and 9mm ammunition, at the time of encounter.
Gufran was sought after in more than 13 cases, involving robbery, murder, and attempted murder in Pratapgarh and other districts of Uttar Pradesh districts. To catch him, UP police had kept a reward of Rs 1,25,000.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police, STF, Dharmesh Kumar Shahi confirmed this news as he said that this morning Lucknow STF conducted an encounter in the Samda region in which the wanted criminal was shot during the incident. He also said, he died during the treatment. DSP Shahi also disclosed his identity, he said the wanted criminal is identified as Mohammad Gufran and he is a notorious criminal.
According to information received so far, there are 13 cases of murder and loot in Pratapgarh police station against him and a reward of ₹1,25,000 was placed on him, the DSP added.
Separately, one terrorist was killed in a clash with security personnel in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to Kashmir police early on Tuesday.
The Kashmir Police claim that they have found him in possession of incriminating items, including weapons and ammunition. The terrorist’s identity and affiliation are being determined. A search operation is underway to find more details.
