Surprising visuals surfaced from a government hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur after a power outage that lasted for more than 2 hours, when patients were treated by the help of torch light.
Visuals surfaced showing patients being treated with the help of torch light, blood samples of women patients were also taken by the centre in torch light.
The incident was reported from the CHC District Government Hospital at Garh Road, Hapur, Uttar Pradesh.
There was complete darkness in the hospital for nearly 2 hours, due to a power cut. No arrangements were made for restoring electricity during the power outage.
Hospital Dr Dinesh Khatri said due to heavy rainfall in the night, a fault was reported in the main line of the hospital leading to power outage for 1-2 hours and the inverter back up also went down. He said the SDM was informed, who immediately sent the team and the power was restored.
When asked about generator facility, the Dr responded generator is only for emergency ward, labor room and in pediatrics ward.
This is not the first instance to have reported in the hospital. Past incidents have shown discrepancies in the hospital lacking in providing proper facility to the patients.
Last month, a similar case was reported when due to poor electricity supply patients were reported suffering in the scorching heat. A video had surfaced on the internet showing a child lying on a stretcher and his father using his towel to fan him.
With the recent case of power outage, it is being ascertained that no action or steps were taken by the district administration to ensure proper facilities to the patients visiting the government hospital for treatment.
